Ray charles and the south/country music? What does Ray charles say about the south? I know Georgia on my mind is about the south, and I know he has done some country western. I'm sure some of his country western is about the south but I don't know those songs very well. Does anyone know any songs or lyrics by Ray Charles that mention anything about the south?
Ray Charles or Ray Charles? Which song do you like more? Ray Charles-I Can't Stop Loving You http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1efO3N8gqA0 OR "You Don't Know Me" w/lyrics Ray Charles http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Q3a1rH_fAI I can't imagine another one like him. And he did it without all the fancy electronic hoopsie doopsie gizmos singers use now. I still remember the first time I heard "Hit the Road Jack" It is soooo wonderful to open my mail and see "I can't stop loving you". I love you, too.
Ray Charles - Hallelujah I Love Her So? what woman sings this song that ray charles made? the lyrics are below (ray charles' lyrics that this woman also sings) Let me tell you 'bout a girl I know She is my baby and she lives next door Every mornin' 'fore the sun comes up She brings me coffee in my favorite cup That's why I know, yes, I know Hallelujah, I just love her so When I'm in trouble and I have no friend I know she'll go with me until the end Everybody asks me how I know I smile at them and say, "She told me so" That's why I know, oh, I know Hallelujah, I just love her so Now, if I call her on the telephone And tell her that I'm all alone By the time I count from one to four I hear her [KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK-KNOCK] on my door In the evening when the sun goes down When there is nobody else around She kisses me and she holds me tight And tells me, "Daddy, everything's all right" That's why I know, yes, I know Hallelujah, I just love her so
Does anyone know what this Ray Charles' song is called? I don't know any of the lyrics, really. But he says one problem... And I'm Bustin' Another problem And I'm Bustin' And so on down the line. I hear it a lot on talk radio (especially WORD 1330) if that helps. Any ideas as to what song I'm talking about? Thanks to anyone who can help. I wish I could give more info.
Need help with a Ray Charles song I can't find, please help? I heard this song in art class and although I couldn't hear it to well I remember the lyrics were like this Get out of here with that(and then there was some kind of instrument like a trumpet) Don't come back again It was a really fun song but I can't find it, some one please help
Do people who write the lyrics write the music? Ever wondered this? Do the musicians who write the lyrics write the beat or music? Example: Bob Dylan. Ray Charles. Michael Jackson. Elvis Presley. Did they write the amazing beats to their songs or did someone else help them ?
Does anybody know the name of this Ray Charles song? I'm sorry for being so vague, but a professor once played this song for my Jazz History class and I can't get it out of my head. That was, like, MONTHS ago, and I just finally got iTunes and am DYING to download it, only I have absolutely no idea what its called! The lyrics that I recall tell the story about how the man suspects his girly of cheating with the milkman or something, so they're gonna move "way outta town"? The part I remember the most is this magnificent crescendo and decrescendo in the brass part. If you know the album it was originally released on, that'd be great, too! Thank youuuu
Do you like the name Raya for a girl?Named after Ray Charles? My friend David is a huge fan of Ray Charles and Maroon 5 and loves the name Raya and Maroon as the middle.I cant stand that for a middle name.Raya is such a beautiful name.He wants his daughter named after something/someone musically. He loves the trumpet, viola, and all other instruments. He also likes putting a twist on major singer superstars(like Raya for Ray Charles)Or Jovi for Bon Jovi, stuff like that. They might have twin girls and need musical names.Oh and he likes to be creative so he liked Claire as in Clarinet. They also liked Lyric, but I thought it was a little weird. And more? Thanks
What do you think of this song for a First Dance at a wedding? "You Don't Know Me" by Jann Arden. It's a remake of the Ray Charles version. Lyrics: http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/mybestfriendswedding/youdontknowme.htm I'm asking, because it's terribly romantic, yet there's something sort of... "I'll never have you to myself" about the lyrics, which is kind of odd for a wedding.
Not all musical lyrics are bad, but the ones that are; Can I change it to be more religious? Ray Charles did it to religious songs...would religious people dare do it to regular songs? There is a lot of badly sexual songs that I really like the beat to (really soothing and relaxing, or more up beat and motivational) but the lyrics are sooo sexual it makes me blush to even think. For my own personal enjoyment, if I changed the lyrics, would I still be considered sinful because of it being a worldly song? I would really like religious people to weigh in on this one.
Can anyone translate the lyrics (italian to english) to Andrea Mingardi song? Can anyone translate the lyrics (italian to english) to Andrea Mingardi song? I've been trying to figure out what this song means. if anyone could translate it for, i'd appreciate it. I've tried the basic internet translation things, but they just don't do it enough justice for coherence. can anyone get me the lyrics to "makin' whoopee"? BUT READ THIS FIRST. I don't want a link, I need the lyrics posted on here because I need to copy and paste them. And the version has to be either Ella Fitzgerald's or Louis Armstrong's.... NOTT Frank Sinatra's version or Ray Charles. hah i did that but all the ones that I found wouldn't let me copy & paste. The only one that let me was a Frank Sinatra version, but his version cuts out all the stuff about the hubby cheating on the wife.... wonder why?
I'm looking for the full lyrics for the song "Seven Spanish Angels."? Its usually heard sung by Willie Nelson and Ray Charles. But I was at a cowboy festival and one of the singers there performed the song. The cowboy singer had a verse to the song that Nelson and Charles do not. It had the couple as criminals...one for money and the other for love. Like maybe the couple had killed the woman's husband and that's why they're being hunted in the song. I'm looking for ALL the verses to the song for personal curiousity. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

What song is this oldie? Probably early 70's. The guy sounds like Sam Cooke but a little raspier. The lyrics were simple and James Brown and I believe Ray Charles are mentioned in the lyrics, some sort of homage.
What is the name of this song?!? alright...here it goes....the only lyrics i know are "Im gonna run now baby" i believe thats the chorus.....it sounds like some tricked out blues song that moby would sample....the singer is a male and i believe is black....sounds like ray charles.....tried to google the lyrics and had no luck.....PLEASE HELP
What's with all the terrible music today? I've heard birds chirp and sing much better than some of the crap that "artists” are coming out with today. What happened to all the great musicians like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jimi Hendirx, The Doors, Janis Joplin, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Supremes, Ike and Tina, Ray Charles, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin?? I know most of them are dead, but that doesn't mean that our ears should be cursed to hear nothing but noise!!!?? Why can’t people write better lyrics and music!? It's horrendous music and I'm sick of it. And please don't tell me not to listen to it because it's unavoidable!! Everywhere you go- you have to hear this terrible music. Nor is it my age because I'm only 24. So what's with the terrible music? Jena W, LOL!!!! Great answer!
On yahoo answers, why is clearly the wrong answer voted ' best answer' and how to prevent that in the future? I asked to identify a song name based on the lyrics to a song sung by Ray Charles (I also posted, as part of the question, a request not to refer me to lyrics websites which I had visited or I wouldn't be asking the question, would I?) I received two identical and wrong answers. If the respondents had followed their own advice and looked at lyrics websites for the song they suggest they would see it's wrong. Yet the anonymous 'Yahoo community' voted it as the best answer. But it's wrong. How to address this and prevent this in the future?
Does anyone know what song this could be? It's by either Norah Jones or Ray Charles (I know they're very different..I don't know why I'm not sure which one though) and for some reason whenever I start to think of it I end up singing "Oh! Darling" by The Beatles..I'm sorry but that's all I can think of haha I know it's not very specific because I don't have any lyrics.. does anyone know which song I could possibly be thinking of..!? if you know, thank you for being able to read my mind!
Can you help me figure out wtf this song is? Okay, this is pretty jumbled due to the fact that I was slightly inebriated when i heard it, but i was at the bar last night. a song came on, it was uptempo and had a ray charles-ish vibe to it. so maybe it was jamie foxx? i cant remember any of the lyrics or anything, but the song is current, from probably last year up to now. HELP! LOL thanks, but no its not blame it. :( it very well may not even be jamie foxx. but its driving me crazy!
What does this song mean to you? "You Don't Know Me," a classic song originally written by Ray Charles, has a very beautiful message. What do these lyrics mean to you? You give your hand to me And then you say, "Hello." And I can hardly speak, My heart is beating so. And anyone can tell You think you know me well. Well, you don't know me. (no you don't know me) No you don't know the one Who dreams of you at night; And longs to kiss your lips And longs to hold you tight Oh I'm just a friend. That's all I've ever been. Cause you don't know me. (no you don't know me) For I never knew the art of making love, Though my heart aches with love for you. Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by. A chance that you might love me too. (love me too) You give your hand to me, And then you say, "Goodbye." I watched you walk away, Beside the lucky guy Oh, you'll never ever know The one who loved you so. Well, you don't know me (For I never knew the art of making love, ) (Though my heart aches with love for you. ) Afraid and shy, I let my chance go by. A chance that you might love me too. (love me too) Oh, you give your hand to me, And then you say, "Goodbye." I watched you walk away, Beside the lucky guy Oh, you'll never ever know The one who loved you so. Well, you don't know me (you don't love me, you don't know me)

Should we consider changing our national anthem? I'd like your opinion.? Let me be clear! I love our national anthem, The Star Spangled Banner. However, I love Ray Charles' version of "America the Beautiful" even more. The music of the Star Spangled Banner was originally "To Anacreon in Heaven," a popular British drinking-song. From the research I've done, it's seems that both the lyrics and the music of "America the Beautiful" is all american. Yes, I love The Star Spangled Banner. But how cool would it be at the olympics, after hearing constant militant, strident national anthems, to hear Ray tickle the ivory and then start to sing "America the Beautiful"? I am asking this question in more than one category. I'm interested in seeing if there is a difference in the answers I get in one category versus another. You are welcome to answer this question more than one time but if you do, bear in mind the category. In music answer it as a music question. In politics, answer the question as a political question. Thanks. To Sherri K - I didn't think you were bashing me. I think you understand that I just wanted opinions and you gave me yours. So far the only thing that's bothering me is that even though I asked for political answers to done in the political category and music answers to be done in the music category, some people haven't done that. That's not even a big deal - I mean what's a category amongst friends. In the music section, I'll probably pick a best answer which agrees with my thought that "America the Beautiful" is "musically" a better anthem. But in the political section, I'll probably agree with those who want to maintain the Star Spangled Banner. From a political and cultural point of view, it seems the better anthem. I wish we could adopt both. "America" for mellow, nostalgic times and The "Banner" for more patriotic feeling. Thanks to everyone for your opinions. You gave me new viewpoints to consider. I never realized this would be an emotional issue.
I need help finding a song!!? i've been searching for this song for about 6 years. i havent heard it in 6 years since i was working at a grocery store. it is done by a male with a voice like ray charles, bob seger, randy newman or anyone else with a deep voice. may have been a couple of guys singing. the lyrics are not exact so dont bother searching for them , this is only what they SOUNDED like. "you've got the rebel jeans" or maybe "you got your liberty" followed by a piano or horn section that goes something like ta ta ta , ta ta taaa. that is all i can recall. some kind of pop song i think . maybe piano used or horn section. very ray charles sounding. maybe even a swing type song. also a very catchy tune.
i need the name of the song that was on the cosby show once.? it was on an episode where bill cosby's parents were over for an anniversery and the family parodied a song that had the lyrics" ive got the feeling, oh baby ive got the feeling, baby, baby, baby" thats all the info i have but i think it was ray charles, im sure its not the beetles. im sorry, there were 2 of those episodes, im looking for the song in the other one
Hurricaine song "Evangeline"? Back when Hurricaine Katrina hit, and was being widely covered by the media, there was a song played often. It sounded like it was done by Ray Charles, it said something about "They're washing us away" And had the word "Evangeline". I have googled it but cannot find the exact title of the song, and I need it, does anyone know the song to which I refer? I need title and lyrics...Thanx!
What's this song? It's a rap/hiphop song...all the lyrics I know to it are "I don't know what you heard about me..." It's not the Ray Charles song or anything like that...it's like rap...

Do you think some horrible things happened to Amy Winehouse to make her act the way she does now? the drinking, the smoking, the drugs, the cutting. in ways i can relate, becasue i used to cut, and self destruct. i think something happened to her horribly, and she just hasn't said. i think she is a talented young lady, with an amazing voice and lyrics, i do think she needs a lot of help. but i was wondering if anyone else thinks something bad happened to her in her childhood, to make her so sad, and so upset and angry!!! maybe like rape, physical/mental abuse, etc. i really wonder. i've always been under the impression deep artists, with deep lyrics and soulful voices, have had a lot of problems in their lives- her music reminds me of a lot of the african american singers prior to the 1970s. donny hathway, ray charles, billie holiday, ella fitzgerald, etta james, etc.
Why don't most modern black people produce their own music? What happened to Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Tupac... They produce commercial crap nowadays. that I don't dare watch music channels. Why don't they play any instruments anymore... an acoustic guitar seems to be too complicated for them. Back in the 60's-90's a guitar was a pre-requisite for any musician. Why don't they write their own songs? The lyrics are atrocious, nothing profound or beyond the capabilities of a pre-schooler. Do they lack musical talent and creativity that they resort to sampling aka stealing, every superior song they can find? ... Timbaland.. Kanye West - INGREDIENTS TO $$$ - Steal an unknown song with a good rhythm, overlap it with lyrics consisting off sex, drugs and parties to appeal to the massess, place an overused video consisting of pornstars. Straight to No.1!! The talent is overwhelming!! And that worst thing is.. they think they're the king of the world for producing shit ... Quote: "That's how you attack a king? You attack moi?" - fat timbaland. or even worse look at how cocky that illiterate kanye acts! Why do we call them musical geniuses, when my band is original and actually possess talent? Why are they making millions, when other bands and artists assert more effort but can barely earn a living... c'mon this doesn't make sense in society!! Have we lost our sophistication that we now settle for mediocrity? This decade in my opinion has to go down as the worst in history. Oh and on top of that, I realised they can't sing and use voice enhancers! Imagine watching them live... the hilarity!! I'm not generalising an entire race... just the majority of that race who produce this music.
Why is Pete Docherty classed as/called a legend? his music is a throwback to REAL legends, i heard a song by the Libertines earlier which was nearly a complete rip-off of Boys Don't Cry by The Cure, down to the "bam..bam bam bam" drum solo and his lyrics seem repetitive, and quite meaningless, like they shoot around trying to find a lucky topic that people will connect with. to me, legends, music-wise at least are people such as: Freddie Mercury Kate Bush Siouxsie Sioux Robert Smith John Lennon Jim Morrison Michael Hutchence All of Pink Floyd(before AND after Syd) Ray Charles Kurt Kobain i would also say Barbra Streisand, but i've only heard about 3 songs by her, but even those are like, one-offs. there are a lot of others, but i've have a list as long as my backyard. *I'd have a list as long as my backyard if i listed them. i suppose another artist would be Nikki Sixx. by Throwback, i mean, it doesn't seem to have, his own stamp on it. we all influences of course, but he just seems to copy instead of trying to bring something new to it. *all have...........
Teens and Twenty Somethings, Is there room left for real rock n' roll from our generation? Hi guys. I am a guitar player, and an avid fan of music from all generations and genres. However, I really do feel like today's music lacks the integrity and the passion that Rock and Roll once did. There are plenty of great bands out there, but they are not as well known as the dreaded celebrity lives of people like KFED and britney, and the overly emotional lyrics of such as My Chemical Romance, etc. Is there room left for the influence of bands such as The Byrds, The Beatles, REM, the Band, John Coltrane, The Rolling Stones, Pearl Jam, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, Buddy Guy, the list goes on and on. I am not asking if it is possible to revive this style, but would you listen to a band that had the influence and charm of a classic rock and roll band, that wasn't in it for the money or the fame, but just wanted to make some real good music. Again, i stress their is some great music out there, but is there room for a real revolution in the way we listen? Thanks.
How many kings are in the music industry? James Brown and Ray Charles - Kings of Soul (Before Michael Jackson, James Brown was the guy who came up with all types of moves) Michael Jackson - King of Pop (no doubt) Elvis Presley - King of Rock Eazy-E and Dr Dre - Kings of Rap (what I think, you may choose different but Eazy started NWA with Dre and without them rap wouldn't be what it is, Tupac and Biggie made the business popular, Eazy and Dre started all the modern rap era with lyrics and stuff) Question: What other kings are there in music that if they died, the support would be overwhelming? BQ: Who was the greatest singer of all time?

I wish we could adopt both. "America" for mellow, nostalgic times and The "Banner" for more patriotic feeling. Thanks to everyone for your opinions. You gave me new viewpoints to consider. I never realized this would be an emotional issue.
