Why was Frank Sinatra called the Chairman of the Board?

I'm a big Sinatra fan but I don't know why people called him that.

1. Frank Sinatra had many nicknames including The Voice,King of Crooners.Ol' Blue Eyes to name but a few. He acquired the nickname "Chairman of the Board" after founding Reprise Records in 1961.
